you” or hear someone else say these
Words.
Why? Why are these words spoken? It’s a way to wish a person blessings in various situations
especially as a response .
When? When did this saying originate? During the Plague in the late 1500s .
How? How did this saying originate? In the 1500s there was the plague and sneezing was the first
symptom which meant you were going to “die” so they would say “bless you” .

this saying originate? In the Hebrew Bible by Jews and by Christians .
